These specialty database engines provide columnar storage\, partitions\, and other tools for incredibly efficient retrieval and aggregation of time-based data. Luckily\, Postgres can do that too!\n\nTimescaleDB has essentially been the only option for adding time-series features to Postgres ... until now! With the introduction of pg_timeseries\, Postgres has gained another option for time-series data. This talk will go over the basics of this new extension\, where we'll walk through a short demonstration using data from the Divvy bike-sharing system in Chicago. How does the extension work? What do we need to do other than loading the data? What kind of benefits might we get from doing this instead of just using standard partitions?\n\nIf you were ever curious about the basics of columnar storage\, partition management\, schedulers\, and other components of time-series databases\, come to the Chicago PUG for all your answers!\n\n**Agenda:**\n\n5-20: Doors open\, and food arrives\n6-00: Hettie Dombrovskaya: Opening remarks\n6-10: Shaun Thomas: An In-Depth View of pg_timeseries\n7-10: Q&A and networking\n8-10: Doors closed.\n\nPlease be on time! You might not be able to get in on the 25th floor after 6!\n\nAs usual\, I hope to see as many of you as possible in person!\n\nHettie Dombrovskaya\,\nChicago PUG Local Organizer
